2019 XC60 Enhancements

Fully redesigned for the 2018 model year, the 2019 XC60 also received a handful of updates. A more affordable front-drive version was new for the 2019 Volvo XC60 range. Volvo also added the ability to disable the vehicle’s engine start/stop system by default, and a new Harman Kardon audio system was offered.

2019 XC60 Lineup

Three primary trims were offered for the 2019 Volvo XC60: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription. The base model, the XC60 Momentum, still feels upscale thanks to features like a turbocharged engine, panoramic moonroof, dual-zone climate control, 10-way power front seats, LED headlights, power tailgate, 18-inch alloy wheels, plus a 9-inch vertically oriented touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.

Upgrading to the XC60 R-Design nets leather seating, blind-spot monitoring, a power-folding rear seat, perpendicular and parallel parking assist, navigation, and the new-for-2019 Harman Kardon audio system. The Inscription model is the top of the line, with quadruple-zone climate control and driftwood cabin inlays among its many niceties, as well as the option to add a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system, heated rear seats and steering wheel, massaging front seats, and larger wheels.

A range of powertrains were offered in the 2019 XC60, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder (XC60 T5), a turbo- and supercharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder (XC60 T6), and a turbo- and supercharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with plug-in hybrid (XC60 T8).

2019 XC90 Enhancements

The Volvo XC90’s handsome design and advanced powertrains are still near the cutting edge, and for the 2019 model year, Volvo made the three-row/7-passenger seating layout standard across the XC90 range. Also new for 2019 was a safety feature called Oncoming Mitigation by Braking, a new Harman Kardon audio system, and the ability to default the engine stop/start system to “off”.

As Volvo’s flagship SUV, the XC90 is offered in three trim specifications: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription. The XC90 Momentum, though nominally the base model, is nonetheless well equipped, with Volvo’s Pilot Assist driver assistance system and other active safety features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping, and new-for-2019 oncoming collision mitigation feature all standard. Leatherette upholstery and 10-way power front seats, a panoramic moonroof, a 9-inch touchscreen multimedia system with navigation, and a 10-speaker, 330-watt audio system round out the 2019 XC90 Momentum’s highlights. The 2019 XC90 R-Design adds a leather interior, 12.3-inch digital dashboard, larger wheels, an upgraded Harman Kardon audio system, and more. Step up to the top-of-the-line XC90 Inscription to add Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and the option to upgrade to a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, air suspension, and more.

Three powertrains were offered in the 2019 Volvo XC90, starting with the T5, a 250-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder. The middle option was the T6, adding a supercharger to the turbocharged 4-cylinder. The top-tier powertrain offering was the T8, adding a plug-in hybrid system to the supercharged and turbocharged 4-cylinder, and capable of up to 17 miles of electric-only range.

2019 S60 Lineup

Like other Volvos, the 2019 Volvo S60 was offered in three trim variants: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription. All models share the Sensus Connect touchscreen interface, a panoramic sunroof, as well as City Safety with Steering Support, the latter helping to mitigate or prevent accidents with pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users and animals. The R-Design adds performance-oriented looks and a choice of all-wheel drive instead of the standard front-wheel drive; the AWD system brings the T8 hybrid powertrain with it. Opt for the S60 Inscription and you’ll get a more luxury-focused treatment, with bright chrome exterior trim and driftwood interior inlays as well as four-zone climate control and other cabin amenities.

Three engines were offered in the 2019 S60, all paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The base T5 is a 250-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. The upgrade T6 adds a supercharger to the turbocharger for a total of 316 horsepower, while the T8 adds a plug-in hybrid system good for 313 total horsepower and all-electric range of up to 21 miles.
